A Creative Start
Good news! I have finally obtained an opportunity to acquire financial means! In other words, I got a job. :) Now, if you've seen my last posts, you know I have been searching for quite some time. A franchised crafts store has given me the position of cashier/sales floor associate. That's code for beginner. I don't care though. Now I can start saving to become more adult like. Providing my own means of transportation, paying a bill or two, saving for the wedding... Fist on my list of things I need is more uniform clothes. Black collared shirts and khakis are the norm. Black or white sneakers, apron, and name tag complete my ensemble. Then I have to figure out how to get there. A seven mile walk or bike ride, while good for my health, doesn't seem practical. I plan to get a bus pass and/or hitch rides from my family until I can save enough to fix the family's broken mini-van, and then get a scooter for my own personal use. (How exciting, huh?) Eventually I hope to get a night job. Maybe a 24 hour restaurant will fit the bill? I'll let you know how my search goes.

Time's a-soarin'
Wow, time really does seem to fly these days. Last post in August? Geepers... Okay, kids, here's what you've missed this time: ... absolutely nothing. Between a handful more interviews and a gazillion more applications, I've finally had ONE person call me back. I was even offered a job! :) We'll just have to see if this lasts. I have so many goals of what I need/want to save for right now. A wedding. An apartment. A car. Insurance. Bills in the house. A honeymoon.... How will I be able to do it on a minimum wage budget? Setting a a wedding date more than 2 years in advance and praying for promotions and/or mulitple jobs. (I WILL make this work! Hahahaha...ha?) As of this moment, wedding plans are as follows in Beth's text note format: December 12th, 2012. Probably Memphis. Up to 100. Budgeted. Enchanted forest theme? Black, white, red ceremony. Red and green reception. After noon. up to four Bridesmaids/Groomsmen.
It doesn't sound like much, but this is strides for me! I had no idea how to plan a wedding. I went to the library, checked out several books and learned. Decided they were mostly crap and did it again. And again. And again. Hopefully by reading my local library's full collection of anything wedding related will help me to become a little more efficient in acting as my own planner and penny pincher. The hardest part will be that budget. Some thing you can't bend on, like the gown. You're pretty much at the mercy of boutiqes, seamstresses, and occasional sales. You also don't want to seem cheap and scrimp on the food though! Gosh darn... I will spend my entire two years searching high and low for wedding accessories, vendors, locations, and anything else I may need. I just hope he doesn't hate me by the end.
